Why Us

Why go solar with an electrician

Solar is electrical work. You get a system designed and connected by the trade responsible for it.

01

One company for the whole system.

We design the system, install it, do any panel upgrade it needs and complete the Idaho Power interconnection. One contractor, one estimate, one point of contact.

02

No hand-off.

Many solar projects are sold by one company and installed by a subcontractor. Here the licensed electricians who review your site are the ones who wire and connect it.

03

Service from the people who built it.

If something needs attention later, you call the same company that installed it, and we already know how your system was put together.

Local Conditions

Built for mountain conditions

Solar projects in Hailey, Ketchum and Bellevue in Blaine County, Idaho begin with a site review that accounts for roof pitch, snow and seasonal shading.

Snow load and roof pitch.

Racking is attached to the roof structure and laid out for the snow your roof carries. Steep valley roofs shed snow well but change how arrays are mounted.

Winter sun angles.

The sun sits low in winter and ridges and tall trees cast long shadows. We review shading across the seasons, not just on the day we visit.

Ground mounts for rural lots.

Properties with open land, common toward Carey, Picabo and Fairfield, often suit a ground mount that is easier to reach and clear of snow.

Panels placed to shed snow.

We look at where snow will slide when it leaves the panels and keep it off entries, decks and walkways.

The Process

Our solar process

  1. 01

Solar system design and site assessment

We review roof or ground space, seasonal shading, usage and the existing electrical service before designing the system.

  2. 02

    Written estimate.

The scope includes the array, electrical connection and any needed panel work.

  3. 03

Solar permitting and Idaho Power interconnection

We prepare the interconnection application, pull electrical permits and coordinate required utility review and meter changes.

  4. 04

    Installation.

We install the racking, panels, inverter and electrical connections.

  5. 05

Inspection, utility approval and system turn-on.

The system is inspected and turned on after the required utility approval.

Questions

Solar questions

How long does a solar installation take?

It depends on system size, roof or ground mount, whether a panel upgrade is needed, and how long permitting and Idaho Power review take. The physical installation is usually the shortest part. Paperwork and utility approval often take longer than the work on your roof. We give you a realistic timeline in the written estimate and keep you updated at each step.

Do I need a panel upgrade for solar?

Sometimes. It depends on your panel's size, its condition and how the system connects to it. Some panels have room for a solar breaker, others need an upgrade or a different connection method. Because we are electricians, we check this at the site review and include any panel work in the same estimate, so it is not a surprise later.

Does snow stop solar panels from working?

Panels covered in snow produce little until it slides off or melts. Tilted panels with a clear path below often shed snow on sunny days, since the dark surface warms. Winter production is lower because days are shorter and the sun is lower. We design placement and tilt so snow can shed and does not slide onto doors, walkways or decks.

Do you handle the Idaho Power paperwork?

Yes. We prepare and submit the interconnection application to Idaho Power, coordinate any required meter changes and work through their review. We also pull the electrical permits and schedule inspections. You sign what needs your signature, and we handle the rest of the back and forth so you are not chasing paperwork.

Can you add batteries to my existing system?

Often, yes. It depends on your inverter, the battery you choose, your panel and which circuits you want backed up. Some systems accept batteries directly and others need additional equipment. We look at what you have, explain the options that fit, and handle the electrical work and any permit and utility updates the change requires.

Do you service systems you did not install?

Yes. We troubleshoot and repair solar systems installed by other companies, including inverter faults, wiring problems and systems that are producing less than they should. We start by testing the system and tell you plainly what is wrong and what it will take.
